Taskforce on Quality of Telemedicine Healthcare being started to ensure virtual care is also quality care

A task force was ted to measure the quality of Telemedicine. National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA), the Alliance for Connected Care, and the American Telemedicine Association, uniting 22 industry experts on behalf of clinicians, health systems, telehealth platforms, state and federal health agencies, insurers, and consumer supporters – plus direction from CMS, HHS, Kaiser, Humana, AARP, among other leading backers.

This need for a comprehensive review of telehealth strategy is highlighted by recent data, with every element of health care undergoing major increases in telehealth and remote patient care, heavily due to COVID-19 related challenges. Many patients and providers have experienced the aptitudes of telehealth for the first time and are interested in continuing to use it, and many public and private payers, including CMS, have significantly relaxed telehealth limitations during the pandemic to support access to care for their patients.

This team is dedicated to making sure that notwithstanding the challenges, quality of care and security remains at the front of all digital health care delivery.
